Did
you know that a particulate of respirable silica-dust is 100 times
smaller than a grain of sand? Did you know that chronic unprotected
exposure to respirable silica dust can lead to silicosis, lung cancer,
and kidney disease? Over 2.3 million workers each year are exposed to
respirable silica at work, many of whom are not adequately protected
from breathing in respirable silica. This course will help employers
recognize and understand the hazard of respirable silica, the required
engineering controls and work practices to protect workers, and how to
implement an effective Silica Exposure Control Plan. This course focuses
on exposures associated with the construction industry and construction
activities, and is intended for designated competent person, as well as
managers/supervisors, superintendents, leads/foremen, safety personnel
and trainers. Topics include:
- Overview of respirable crystalline silica
- Exposure assessment and environmental sampling
- Engineering controls and work practices
- Respiratory protection
- Medical surveillance
- Exposure control plans
- Training and communication
NOTE: Consider “Respiratory Protection:
Fundamentals and Fit-Testing” addressing requirements, standards and
practices associated with the use of respirators to control exposure to
respirable silica.
Cancellation Policy:
*Pre-registration
and payment are required. Hopefully you won't need to cancel, but if
you do, please do so at least three business days prior to the course
for a full refund. No refunds will be made after three business days
