OSHA #511 - Occupational Safety & Health Standards for General Industry

General industry safety professionals at every level will benefit from this comprehensive introductory course as they learn about the scope and application of OSHA standards to workplace safety and health. Special emphasis is placed on using the 29 CFR Part 1910 general industry standards to identify and recommend abatement for the greatest safety and health hazards. Participants have an opportunity to: Increase hazard awareness and avoidance using OSHA standards as a guideline; and, earn the OSHA 511 certificate. The Minnesota Safety Council serves as a host training organization for the National Safety Education Center.

Bill Stuart, MPH, CSP    
Safety Council Staff

William R Stuart, MPH, CSP is a lifelong resident of Minnesota. He obtained his Master Degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota. Bill has over 28 years of experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field, making his move to the Minnesota Safety Council a natural fit. Bill's great passion is relationship building and bringing the concepts of safety and safety management to a level that is easy to grasp and understandable for everybody. After all, everybody is responsible for safety — Right? Prior to coming to the Minnesota Safety Council, Bill worked for several Fortune 500 companies and at one time served as Global Environmental, Health and Safety Director. In this and many other roles (including several years as a consultant for MN OSHA), he traveled the world, helping to reduce the risk of injury and illness for thousands of workers.


Terry Larson, GSP    
Safety Council Staff
Terry S. Larson, GSP is a lifelong resident of Minnesota. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety from Waldorf University. Prior to coming to the Minnesota Safety Council, Terry worked in the general industry field as well as the Minnesota Army National Guard. In these roles he helped to reduce the risk of injury and illness for workers. Terry’s passion lies in collaborating across boundaries to find common ground in delivering safety education and training programs to create the safest possible work area.
